Sofie Ketels wins Campari-bartender competition
The Belgian bartender Sofie Ketels has won the first ever Campari bartender competition. She won with an original version of Negroni and will serve it as a guest bartender at the famous Camparino Bar in Milan. Ten bartenders (8 men and 2 women) from Belgium and the Netherlands competed at the first Campari bartender competition. The challenge was to give a fresh, personal touch to classic Negroni. The rules were simple: use at least 1/3 Campari, limit yourself to a maximum of six ingredients and create the cocktail within five minutes.
Eventually, Sofie Ketels won with her 'The Mistress'. Soon to be served in Milan. Or make your own at home following the recipe:

2.5 cl Appleton Estate, infused with grilled orange Tapioca parels, marinated in Campari,
Timo Janse (Door 74, Amsterdam) was second, Jeroen Van Hecke (Apereau, Blankenberge) third. The jury consisted of the German mixologist Mauro Mahjoub, the Anglo-Italian Salvatore Calabrese and our Belgian chef Wim Ballieu.
